as a person
Choosing a therapist is a very personal decision. It involves more than being satisfied with their approaches and qualifications, it also means feeling comfortable with them as a person.
It’s why I offer a free, no-obligation initial telephone consultation or a 30minute face-to-face consultation free of charge. It’s also an opportunity to share a little of myself with you.
Many of my clients come to me because they feel they are stuck in some way, not sure of what direction to take or what steps they need take to even begin moving at all.
It’s a situation I faced myself in the mid-80s. I was in a business career that was proving less and less fulfilling, and I didn’t feel I had goals that excited or inspired me. I decided to take action through a personal development programme based on NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming). The self-examination I did through that programme changed my view of myself, my surroundings, my family and my whole life path. I retrained in Psychotherapy and Clinical Hypnotherapy and have been dedicated to helping people make personal change ever since.
In my personal life, I face the same challenges everyone else does. I juggle my consulting practice with a husband, two teenage children and two dogs here in BC along with two older children with their own families in the UK. I have a diverse range of interests, and a strong community involvement. My own personal development continues (there is always a next step) – my latest being moving to beautiful Victoria from the UK in June 2012.
